Santa Clarita Fire Station reaches construction milestone

Structural framing was completed this week for new Fire Station No. 156 in Santa Clarita, California.  Simpson & Simpson Management Consulting is the construction manager for the LA County Department of Public Works on this $3.8 million project.  Window installation and exterior finish work is now under way.  The fire station is scheduled for completion in May 2011.

Welcome Darlene Wong to the Simpson & Simpson Team

Darlene Wong has joined SSMCI as Marketing Director and will be supporting business development activities. Darlene comes to us from HNTB Corp. where she was project manager for contracts with LAUSD and LACCD and supervised marketing efforts for the Program Management business unit.  She started her career with Hewlett Packard as a marketing event coordinator and gravitated to program management where she has been involved with the LAUSD construction program since 1999. Darlene holds a Bachelor’s degree in marketing from Calif. State Univ., Los Angeles.

Southern California Edison Accelerates Small Business Direct Install Program

Due to the overwhelming response from small businesses to participate in its energy efficient upgrades program, Southern California Edison has decided to accelerate the Small Business Direct Install program from the original 3-year duration down to less than 2 years.  SCE’s goal is to reduce energy consumption by smalll businesses through the installation of energy efficient lighting, thermostatic controls and other means and will be spending $100 million in this program.  Simpson & Simpson Management Consulting, as part of a joint venture team, is providing program management services.

Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Center Inpatient Tower Renovations and Multi-Service Ambulatory Care

Simpson & Simpson Management Consulting, as a part of a joint venture team, has been selected to provide project controls services for the $354 million renovation of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. The project consists of a new Multi-service Abulatory Care Center and renovation of the Inpatient Tower. The project is scheduled for occupancy in early 2014.

Welcome John Bingham to the Simpson & Simpson Team

John Bingham has joined SSMCI as Vice President and will be responsible for  developing corporate strategy and business opportunities.  John is a 30-year veteran of  the program and construction management industry and joins SSMCI from HNTB Corp.,  where he was Vice President of Program Management.  During his career, he also held  similar responsible positions with Bechtel, DMJM and AECOM and has been deeply  involved with the LAUSD construction program since its inception in 1997.  John holds a  Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from UCLA and is a licensed engineer in  California.


Managing BIM technology in the Design-Build Project Environment

SSMCI recently conducted in-house training for its employees on the topic of “Managing BIM technology in the Design-Build Project Environment.”  The featured presenter was an expert on BIM technology from US CAD, a local technology training firm.  With many of our clients utilizing BIM and moving more toward the design-build delivery method, SSMCI project managers and construction support staff received valuable information and “best practices” to utilize on their projects.
