Simpson & Simpson provided project and construction management services in support of Los Angeles County’s Department of Health Services (DHS) On-Line Real-Time Comprehensive Health Information Database (ORCHID) project. The work included OSHPD-approved upgrades to the LAC+USC Data Center, as well as eight nearby clinic locations, and involved electrical power, HVAC, and telecommunication improvements necessary for the implementation of the new on-line health records system. Job Order Contracting (JOC) was the delivery method used for demolition and reconfiguration of space within the facilities. Follow-up work included the installation of an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) for the data center and mechanical improvements to a redundant LAC+USC IT support location.
